At Redwood Dental Centre in Winnipeg, our dentists may recommend porcelain veneers as a cosmetic dental service to help correct teeth that are chipped, oddly shaped, discoloured, misaligned, or unevenly spaced.
What is a Dental Veneer?
Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth-shaped porcelain that are custom-made to match the shape and colour of your teeth by a dental laboratory.
At Redwood Dental Centre, our dentists use veneers to create a more uniform smile for our patients. Your dentist bonds the restoration to the front of your natural tooth to help improve the symmetry, shape or colour of your smile.
Lumineers®
At Redwood Dental Centre, we offer Lumineers to our patients. Lumineers are thin veneers that can often be placed with little to no removal of the natural tooth structure.
How Veneers Work
Veneers are made in a dental laboratory from very thin pieces of porcelain that are custom-shaped to match your teeth. The porcelain has a natural look and imitates the natural translucency of tooth enamel.
To begin, your dentist will take an impression of your teeth which will be used to create your custom-fit veneers.
Once your veneers have been made, they will be bonded to the fronts of your natural teeth.
Benefits of Veneers
If you are looking to improve the shape of individual teeth or the evenness of your whole smile, you may want to consider dental veneers as a less-intrusive alternative to dental crowns.
Conditions that dental veneers can resolve include worn, crooked, or discoloured teeth. They can also reduce unwanted spacing and change the size of your teeth.
Dental veneers can last for many years if cared for properly.
